ABOUT ALZA

we built alza around the answers we wished we had.

Two practitioners, real cases, and a practice grounded in functional testing and personalized protocols.

OUR STORY

how we got here

We met at a dog park in Austin, TX and quickly realized we had more in common than our dogs. We'd both spent years dealing with chronic symptoms that conventional medicine couldn't explain: brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, acne, sleep disruption. We each saw multiple specialists who offered fragmented solutions without ever investigating why.

That changed when we found functional practitioners who ran comprehensive testing and examined the full picture. Sydney's testing uncovered gut dysbiosis, hormone dysfunction, and nutrient depletion. Megan's revealed bacterial overgrowth, hormonal imbalances, and mold toxicity. Once we addressed what was actually going on, our symptoms resolved.

We named our practice Alza, from the Italian "alzare," meaning to rise. Our practitioners showed us what comprehensive testing, clear answers, and personalized protocols could do, and we wanted to build a practice around that same approach.

OUR APPROACH

thoroughly researched, healthily skeptical.

Every protocol we create draws from peer-reviewed research and clinical evidence. We stay up to date with emerging science while maintaining healthy skepticism about trends that lack rigorous support. Alza doesn't diagnose or prescribe. We help you understand your data, build a plan, and coordinate with your medical provider when needed.

Sydney Green

CERTIFIED NUTRITION PRACTITIONER

Sydney is from Seattle, WA and spent over a decade in tech working in analytics and product management before making functional nutrition her full-time focus. Her background in systems thinking shapes how she approaches client cases, connecting patterns across symptoms and managing complex protocols with attention to detail.

She's particularly interested in exercise science and hormones. In her spare time, Sydney is an avid baker and devoted Seattle sports fan who enjoys staying active and spending time with her friends, family, and dog Walter.

Megan McMahon

CERTIFIED NUTRITION PRACTITIONER

Megan is from San Diego, CA and worked in tech sales before transitioning to functional nutrition. Her experience in relationship building and communication translates directly to client care, breaking down complex information into clear, actionable steps that clients can actually implement.

She's particularly interested in gut health and mold toxicity, drawn from her own experience with bacterial overgrowth and environmental exposure. When she's not working with clients, Megan stays active through skiing, hiking, and Pilates, and spends time with her friends, family, and dog Moose.

Sydney and Megan listened to me when everyone had told me it was just anxiety. I finally have answers and feel like I’m healing."
