ABOUT

why we built alza

OUR STORY

how we got here

We met at a dog park in Austin, TX and quickly realized we had more in common than our dogs. Between us, we had spent years dealing with bloating, food sensitivities, acne, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, poor sleep, hair loss, and unexplained changes in weight and energy. We had each seen multiple specialists, received conflicting advice, and been told our labs looked “normal” while still feeling like something wasn’t right.

What changed things for us was working with practitioners who took the time to understand the full picture. They looked at our histories, used testing thoughtfully, and uncovered the underlying factors contributing to how we were feeling. Once we understood what was actually going on, we finally had a clear direction for moving forward.

We named our practice Alza, from the Italian alzare, meaning “to rise.” The practitioners who helped us showed us what comprehensive testing, clear explanations, and personalized protocols could do. We built Alza to provide that same experience to other people looking for answers.

OUR APPROACH

from intake to protocol

INTAKE & HEALTH HISTORY

You complete a detailed intake covering your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, medications, supplements, and goals. We review your responses and use that information to determine which testing to order.

01

FUNCTIONAL TESTING

We order your testing and provide instructions for completing it. Once results are available, we review the findings and develop your personalized protocol, including nutrition, supplement, and lifestyle recommendations.

02

REsULTS & PROTOCOL

We review your findings together and walk through your personalized protocol. You’ll leave with a written summary and action plan following your session. Some clients continue with ongoing support, adjustments, and follow-up testing over time.

03

We don't diagnose disease, prescribe medication, or replace medical care. We work alongside physicians and refer clients back to their medical team whenever something falls outside our scope of practice.

THE TEAM

meet the practitioners

Sydney Green

CERTIFIED NUTRITION PRACTITIONER

Sydney spent more than a decade working in analytics and product before transitioning to functional nutrition. Her background influences how she approaches client care, looking for patterns across symptoms, history, and testing rather than viewing them in isolation. She’s particularly interested in hormones, exercise science, and the relationship between metabolism, stress, and long-term health.

Outside of work, Sydney is an avid baker, a devoted Seattle sports fan, and spends most of her free time with her family, friends, and dog Walter.

Megan McMahon

CERTIFIED NUTRITION PRACTITIONER

Before transitioning to functional nutrition, Megan worked in technology sales. Her background influences how she approaches client care, helping clients understand the connections between their symptoms, environment, and lifestyle in a way that feels practical and actionable. She’s particularly interested in gut health, environmental exposures, and the relationship between the microbiome, hormones, and overall health.

Outside of work, Megan enjoys skiing, hiking, Pilates, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog Moose.

Sydney and Megan listened to me when everyone had told me it was just anxiety. I finally have answers and feel like I’m healing."
